KY: Home to Great Things and Great People

Greetings! We had a whirlwind trip through Kentucky over the weekend. It was grand on all counts. Saturday morning I shot out at the break of dawn for a daily run.  Oddly, I managed to cross three city limit signs (Louisville, Forest Hills and Hurstbourne Acres) in less than five minutes. The temperature hung in the mid 70s as I milled around enjoying the lovely morning. Birds sang and I was filled with great anticipation of a full day of tourist activities.  After the 4 mile run I joined for a Shannan for a 1 mile walk in the retail area close to the hotel.

Along the walk we discussed the many of the attractions of KY including the Abraham Lincoln birth home, the famous Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat and Bluegrass music. In addition to those things we planned to learn more about KY Bourbon at the Evan Williams Experience, and tour the Muhammad Ali Center.  The latter half of our day visited the somewhat controversial Creation Museum http://creationmuseum.org/ and its newly opened and equally provocative sister site, Ark Encounter  https://arkencounter.com/.

We ended the day with a stop in a Kentucky Fried Chicken. We’d visited the original location and museum many years ago. However, it just didn’t feel right to be in the state that made Colonel Sanders famous without a paying homage at a local restaurant.

See Interesting Places. Run.
