Greetings!
Rabbits small and large zipped along in front and alongside of me. The furry
little creatures appeared quite comfortable to feed and frolic with the intermittent
foot traffic on the path that cut through their natural habitat. Squirrels
busied themselves and a cat sat patiently in a field waiting for what I suspect
would be breakfast. I relished watching the animals going about their daily
routines, just as I was doing mine, only in a place far from home. I was out
for my morning run on a trail the City of West Sacramento had converted from
rail road tracks to a very nice exercise path.
Drivers
in the area had the same calm attitude as the animals. People happily yielded
when the path crossed streets. Several folks were using the path early in the
day and many more around 7:00 am when Shannan and I returned for a walk. During
the walk we took note of the row of black berry bushes lining much of the path.
Shannan grew nostalgic at the sight. She snapped a couple of pictures and
snagged a ripe berry. The latter really took her back to summer days of her
youth.
The
time and resources of the administrators and planners of West Sacramento were
well spent on this Rails to Trails program. Thank you!
Skate.
Bike. Walk. Run!
Tom
