Greetings! As noted
previously, I took great interest when the Atlanta Track Club connected three
of their major races to create the Tripe Peach Series. Some portion of the
Peachtree Road Race, the PNC 10 Miler and the Atlanta Half Marathon covers the
city’s iconic Peachtree Road. The first in the trifecta took place on the 4th
of July with the World’s Largest 10K, The Peachtree.
Given I have not been running in races for a while, I did
not have an all-important qualifying time. Thus, I was randomly give a number
way in the back, 63,000 out of 65,000 runners. I never managed to get into a
strong running pace as the waves of folks ahead of me were not “racing” per
say. That’s okay, I had more time to
enjoy all the interesting costumes of runners and people who came out to cheer
us on during the hot and humid morning.
Companies and individual crowed sidewalks and offered refreshments
to runners ranging from donuts, pizza, lollypops to 16 ounce cans pf Pabst Blue
Ribbon. All and all it was a fun way to start the holiday. Now, it’s time to
start logging more miles to get ready for the next event in October.
Have Fun. Run.
Tom
