Greetings! While staying in West Hollywood, CA I had a very
nice run on Hollywood Blvd. This road is famous for a number of things, among
them the iconic Walk of Fame. Given I
don’t have a television and have never subscribed to cable TV, it comes as no surprise
I’m not a devotee to the American celebrity culture. I am, however, a scholar
of pop culture. Thus, I had some interest in the individuals whose names are
emblazoned on star along the sidewalk. I recently completed a project on three controversial
stars: Vince McMahon, Hugh Hefner and Jesus, the latter is an official star
placed by a church.
In the evening we took a stroll and the area was a buzz with
activity. Tourist crowded Madame Tussauds wax museum and the Chinese
Theater. Some of the other guests in our
hotel where delighted to be so close to the Hollywood Bowl, the famous
Hollywood sign perched in the hills and the all the fanfare on Hollywood Blvd.
All the above added to the cost of our per night stay, whereas I found the
proximity of a Frank Lloyd Wright House and a very good donut shop much more
appealing.
Be Entertained. Run.
Tom
